π WAY BACK WEDNESDAY
In the 1991 Florida Citrus Bowl, played on January 1 in Orlando, Florida, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets faced off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This matchup held national championship implications, adding to the excitement of the 45th edition of the Citrus Bowl.
Georgia Tech entered the game with an impressive 10-0-1 record and a #2 ranking, while Nebraska came in at 9-2, ranked #13 in the UPI coaches' poll. The Yellow Jackets triumphed over the Cornhuskers with a commanding 45-21 victory. This win propelled Georgia Tech to the top of the Coaches' Poll, securing a share of their fourth national championship alongside Colorado.
